Melecio Rivera is the President of the El Salvador Table Tennis Federation and the President of the Latin American Table Tennis Union whilst Carlos Esnard, the Latin American Table Union’s Technical Director, is resident in the small Central American country and most active in promoting the country’s table tennis fortunes.įurthermore, they have a situation with regards to location that is the envy of many a larger country nowhere is too far to travel and the situation of their premises is as near perfection as possible. In many respects the situation for table tennis in El Salvador is quite idyllic. The course commenced on Monday 24th November and will conclude on Sunday 30th November 2008. Small in stature but with a big heart, El Salvador is progressive and is currently hosting an ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches Course under the direction of Cuba’s Evelio Alvarez, the Latin American Table Tennis Union’s Development Officer. Bordering Honduras and Guatemala, a population of under seven million and, due to its size, the most densely populated country in Central America, El Salvador is at the vanguard of table tennis promotion in Latin America.
